Python Script Error when adding Mesh Sculptie

Hi Everyone

Firstly pls accept my apologies if this topic has been covered, i've had a hard time finding the answer to my problem, therefore decided to post it here instead.

I installed blender, python and copied the primstar scripts to the correct folder as instructed.

Blender 2.49b
Python 2.6.6
Primstar 1.0.0

I run blender, i can see the options appear in the menu, however when i click to add a mesh sculptie, it gives me the following error:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender>blender
Compiled with Python version 2.6.2.
Warning: could not determine argv[0] path
Checking for installed Python... got it!

tar_1.0.0\primstar\add_mesh_sculpt_mesh.py", line 48, in

ImportError: No module named primstar

Blender quit

C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender>

I'm using the 32bit edition, although my windows is Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.

Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance.

hey juanlyric

You are not installing it correctly: File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts\prims tar_1.0.0\primstar\

The right path should be: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts\primstar\

Check this post: HOWTO Manually Install Primstar on Windows it has been tested on Windows 7 64bit, haven't tested using Python 2.6.6 and haven't read the release logs but should work.

Warning: could not determine argv[0] path has been discussed on Blender's forums for a while, which is not what's affecting Primstar from working in this case.

Hi Manny Thanks for the

Hi Manny

Thanks for the reply. Seems like i copied the extracted folder as it is rather than copying the primstar folder within it. I'll give that a go once i get home from work and fingers cross, hopefully it will work Smile

Regards

*** UPDATE ***

I followed that link you mentioned and got the windows version working without a hitch, thanks for that. Now just have to get the Mac version up and running. It keeps freezing when I tried to add a mesh sculptie.

hey juanlyric

I'm glad you sort it out!

Keep in mind Blender 2.49b for:

1)  PowerPC, Mac OS X 10.3+, requires Python 2.3

2) Intel, Mac OS X 10.5, requires Python 2.5

Pimstar isn't that stable on a Mac, while Domino was coding Primstar 1.0.0 he requested help from this community (us: members/possible developers and users) and blender's community (users and developers) to sort it since he had no Mac to test on.

As you can figure out, that help didn't come as expected, so he couldn't do much a thing about it.

Really hope in the next releases people to be a little more enthusiast about the philosophy of free software as participants and not just like end-users.

I personally love reading or listening to people helping each other and sharing knowledge when it comes exclusively and purely with nothing but the best intentions of sharing. Because free software philosophy is all about it.

Error when trying to add sculptie mesh...

I am getting an error too, but a much different error.

  • I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (x64)
  • Blender 2.49b
  • Python 2.6.6

I try to add a sculpt mesh and I get an error and the console says:

I tried reinstalling Python, and that didn't help.
